Day 39: coriander and root parsley. Neither like root disturbance so this is another win for pots that break down in soil. Days 37, 38: more cornflowers. Lots of organ practise though.

Day 34

You don’t get a picture tonight: though today was my day off, I left things rather late and so tonight was another case of going out in the dark and sprinkling some cornflower seeds about.

I’m very fond of cornflowers. My grandmother had them, and called them “batchelor’s buttons”.

Day 33: vine tomato ‘yellow centiflor’, and papalo, a Mexican culinary herb.

Day 32: vine tomatoes. “Long Pink Bulgarian” and “Purple Ukraine”. No idea where I’ll put these.

Day 30: missed day 29 so double again today. Claytonia (winter purslane), minutina (bucks horn plantain), purple tomatillo and pocketbook vine tomato. All of these are things that didn’t do so well first time round.

Day 28: “Chinese” garlic chives, yellow lettuce (looseleaf type), runner/butter beans, purple climbing beans. Somehow managed to miss yesterday, sowed double today instead. Running out of space too, so I put some things outside today. If I were more organised I’d harden them off properly first.
